In these Terms of Use, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Queensland Chess School Pty Ltd trading as King & Queen Chess Club and Crown Chess Academy. Our business scope covers chess coaching (in person and online), school chess programs, holiday chess camps, and chess tournaments.
By accessing our website or enrolling in our programs, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. We reserve the right to amend these terms at any time. We suggest you review them each time you access our website.
No party or individual is permitted to copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, or display any information on this website without our prior written permission.
An online enrolment form must be completed before your child starts any chess program with us. Payment for the term is required after a confirmation letter is issued.
If your child joins during a school term, the tuition fee will be calculated based on the remaining number of weeks.
All payments must be transferred online to our club. Coaches on site will not accept any payment.
When enrolling, please advise us of any medical, custodial, or other relevant factors we need to be aware of.
Once enrolled, students are expected to attend all lessons during the term. We understand that school events or illness may occasionally prevent attendance.
A maximum credit for two missed lessons can be given in one term, except where prior written agreement has been made before the new term starts.
Lessons missed through non-attendance or insufficient notice will be charged.
Usually there are 9–10 lessons per group each term. Some terms may have 8 lessons if they clash with public holidays.
If your child attends an after-school program, we expect them to be collected upon completion of the lesson. We reserve the right to charge a late collection fee.
For online coaching sessions, both the student and coach must log in on time with internet and equipment ready before the lesson.
A parent or guardian must be present or within sight/hearing during online sessions.
Screenshots of children during online sessions must not be taken without parental permission.
If lessons are cancelled due to force majeure (e.g. teacher strikes, extreme weather), we will issue a credit to students for use in the next term.
We expect all students to treat coaches, volunteers, and other players with respect, follow instructions, use kind words, and help maintain a calm and focused learning environment.
If behaviour becomes a concern, we will communicate with parents and work together on a support plan. In serious cases, a temporary or longer break from the program may be required.
If a child is removed from the program due to ongoing behaviour concerns or a serious incident, a refund may not be provided.
Students (or their parents) are responsible for covering the cost of replacement if they damage school property.
Both parents/guardians and students are responsible for their personal belongings. The school and club take no responsibility for lost property.
Flyers, business cards, or any commercial advertisements may only be displayed with the approval of the tournament organiser or club management.
